ABOUT
PAVILION & CIRCULAR FARMING
Pavilion Farms (“Pavilion”) is a large broiler chicken growing operation, with 6 chicken farms located in Anakie off Carrs Road, and another 2 in Carisbrook.
Pavilion has long been on a path of 100% sustainable Circular Farming, with organic fertiliser production, responsible waste management, renewable energy, bird welfare, lowering greenhouse gas emissions and providing local jobs at the forefront of its operational and growth strategy.
Pavilion recently established Pavilion Biogas, with a specific focus on building its first Chicken Litter Organic Fertiliser and Biogas Facility (“OFBF”). The OFBF will use several processes including Anaerobic Digestion (“AD”). The OFBF will be built on Pavilion’s own land, adjacent to chicken farms 1 and 2 at Anakie.
In simple terms, the Project involves the following:
- Building a facility to process chicken litter and other organic material and safely convert it to approximately 21,000Mw per annum of renewable power and 6,000+ tonnes of organic fertiliser
- The facilty will include a safe and largely enclosed system including tanks and pipe work and “gas to electricity” systems
- Safely feeding Chicken Litter from Pavilion’s own farm, together with other non hazardous organic material, into the tanks
- Covering the tanks, allowing for the natural degradation of the feedstock in an enclosed environment
- Safely capturing the gas and converting it to renewable electricity
- Safely capturing the organic largely pathogen free material and converting it to a high nutrient organic fertiliser. Drying the fertiliser to increase nutrients on a per tonne basis, and also to reduce heavy vehicle transport requirements
- Appropriate fire protection and grid protection equipment and systems will be installed and approvals will be obtained from Powercor
- Capturing and converting the gas significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions
- EPA development license will be obtained ensuring that relevant noise, odour, visual impact etc is within acceptable limits
LOCATION
The Project will be constructed on Pavilion’s own land, between its Chicken Farm 1 and Farm 2.
